Mid Argyll Pipe Band would like to extend congratulations to Noise Festival, winners of the Arts Culture and Heritage category at the recent British Charity Awards.
Iain and David represented Mid Argyll Pipe Band at the Awards on Thursday 11th June. MAPB had been nominated for our use of diverse instruments and an inclusive approach to attract young people to music.
Iain said: “With my heart beating a million times a minute and a bead of sweat trickling down my forehead in the unbearable heat, the tension was finally brought to a climax as the winner was revealed to be..........…….Noise Festival. Although initially disappointed we recognised what an achievement in itself getting into the shortlist was. Regardless of the outcome, the Award Ceremony was good exposure for the band and was a very enjoyable experience for both David and myself”
Mid Argyll Pipe Band will continue with our work to contribute to the local community and the youth of Argyll, which is without a doubt a valuable and noteworthy cause. Our burning ambition to continually test the boundaries of unconventional and traditional pipe band music is also a unique attribute which opens up many opportunities for our young players.
It may not have been a win, but the recognition and support is in itself something our members and army of voluntary supporters are extremely proud of!
